Feeling Better and Contest Entries

I've had a busy weekend with house related stuffs going on. I finally feel much better thanks to the giant prednisone doses I've been on for the last five days. Tomorrow, I start stepping the dose down so here is hoping that I stay feeling good.

I also worked on finishing my entries into the Rings and Things contest. I haven't entered any contests for a long time because I wanted to practice my techniques. One of my entries was done by Melanie and me. She came to me and asked if she drew jewelry would I make it. I was a little surprised but said "Sure!". I'm so proud of her for coming up with the design.

I made up the next one on my own. It is wire wrapping,crochet,braiding with fancy jasper and African Jade.

Wirewrapping & Nursing Necklaces

I've been learning some very different (to me) wire wrapping techniques. I downloaded a tutorial on an adjustable ring base and loosely followed the design to complete the first ring. I really love this because it is a jumping off point for several things that I have been wanting to try.

I used light yellow beads and the swirls to decorate this ring.




This one was done the same way but I used some glass pearls I had on my bead tray. I wanted to create a different look without the swirls. I like this one the best so far.




I also redesigned a Nursing Necklace for a customer with some of my new findings.

I crocheted the hearts for this necklace. I love mixed media so I try to combine as many materials as possible. The stones are lapis and carnelian and the chain is a rolo chain.

I know there are quite a few nursing necklaces but I've been on kind of a necklace making kick lately. Nursing necklaces are used while nursing a baby or can even be used while feeding via bottle. They are designed to be interesting and fun for baby hands while strong enough to be tugged and yanked. Quite a few women buy them that don't have kids just because they are pretty. Anyway thanks for looking at them. Any suggestions are appreciated..
